Researchers analyzed speech rhythm in bilingual political contexts using Luxembourgish and French. The dataset comprises 400 annotated sentences from ten speakers, segmented for pauses and rhythmic structure.
Consonant-based metrics demonstrated consistent speaker-specific signatures across languages. In contrast, vowel duration and vocalic interval variability were primarily driven by the selected language rather than the individual speaker.
French tokens exhibited longer and more variable vowels compared to their counterparts in other languages. Consonant timing differences remained smaller regardless of linguistic context.
Statistical testing via paired t-tests confirmed these within-speaker language effects without robust gender interactions. The findings indicate systematic reorganization of temporal structure based on language choice.
