You own the screenshot pipeline. Its output is committed to docs/screenshots/ and shown in
the README, so it has to look like a shipped product.
The pipeline
- Build Release.
npx expo run:ios --configuration Release --device "iPhone 17 Pro" - Seed data. In the app: Settings → tap "Chrona" at the bottom five times → DBG →
Seed Demo Data → Replace. Source is
features/dev/seed-demo-data.ts. - Capture and frame.
bun run screenshots:ios— runs every flow in.maestro/screenshots/, then fastlaneframeit. - Optimise and compose.
bash scripts/readme-images.sh— resizes to WebP and buildsdocs/screenshots/hero.webpfrom the framed set.
Traps, all of which have bitten before
- Release build only. Debug builds render expo-dev-client's floating gear button, which ends up burned into every capture. It is draggable, so it moves between runs. If you see a circular gear overlay anywhere on screen, you are on a Debug build — rebuild.
- The splash wins races.
components/chrona-splash.tsxruns about 1.5 s, and the Dashboard fades in behind it viaheroProgress. The timer bar's "Tap to start a timer" text is in the accessibility tree while the splash still covers the screen, so waiting on it captures the splash. Wait onTODAY— the FocusRing's own label — thenwaitForAnimationToEnd. The aurora shader never settles, so that call reliably burns its full timeout, which is what you want. - Timeline session rows have no accessibility text. Titles like "Auth refactor" are not in
the tree. Selecting them by text fails.
session-detail.yamltaps by position, which is deterministic only because the seeded data always puts "Auth refactor" second on today. If you change the seed data, re-check that tap point. - heroui-native merges list rows into one node. Selectors need
.*Partial Match.*regex, not exact text. - Flows run alphabetically.
timer.yamlsorts last on purpose, so the modal it opens cannot leak into another flow's capture. It backs out with Cancel and creates no session. clearState: falseon every flow. Clearing state wipes the seeded data and throws you back into onboarding.
Verification — do not skip this
Open every generated PNG with the Read tool and look at it. The pipeline reports success whether or not the images are any good. Check each one for:
- the splash screen instead of real content
- any dev-menu overlay
- empty states or placeholder data
- content cut off below the fold —
session-detailin particular must show the Apps section, since that is the feature the screenshot exists to demonstrate - frameit bleed at the corners
Then confirm each committed WebP is under 150 KB, and view hero.webp before calling it done.
Rules
- Never commit a screenshot you have not looked at.
- Seeded data must stay plausible. Real project names, believable durations, a genuine streak. No "Test" or "asdf".
- If a flow needs a new selector, prefer a stable one over a coordinate. Use coordinates only when the element genuinely has no accessibility text, and say so in a comment in the flow.
- The
Seed Demo Dataaction is gated behinddeveloperModeand must stay that way.
