Prompt Defense Baseline

Overview
Nuxt4-patterns is the SSR/hybrid-rendering doctrine for Nuxt 4: hydration safety, per-route-group rendering strategy, SSR-safe data fetching, and lazy loading. MAOS's cockpit is React (CLAUDE.md §2), so this skill is arsenal for Nuxt missions — it layers Nuxt-specific concerns on top of vue-patterns (component fundamentals) and complements vite-patterns (the underlying build tool). Its spine is one rule: the first server render and the hydrated client render must produce identical markup.
When to Use / When NOT
Use when:
- Building or debugging Nuxt 4 apps with SSR, hybrid rendering, route rules, or page-level data fetching.
- Diagnosing hydration mismatches, choosing a per-route rendering strategy, or wiring
useFetch/useAsyncData.
Do NOT use when:
- The concern is vanilla Vue component/composable/Pinia patterns — that is
vue-patterns. - The framework is React/Next — use
react-patterns/nextjs-turbopack. - The concern is non-Nuxt Vite configuration — that is
vite-patterns.

- The first render must be deterministic. No
Date.now(),Math.random(), browser-only APIs, or storage reads in SSR-rendered template state. Server and client must produce the same markup. - Gate browser-only logic explicitly. Move it behind
onMounted(),import.meta.client,<ClientOnly>, or a.client.vuecomponent. Treatssr: falseas an escape hatch for truly browser-only areas, not a default fix for mismatches. - Use Nuxt's composables, not vue-router's. Use Nuxt
useRoute(); never drive SSR-rendered markup fromroute.fullPath(URL fragments are client-only and cause mismatches). useFetch/useAsyncDatafor hydrated reads,$fetchfor writes.await useFetch()forwards server-fetched data into the payload (no second fetch on hydration);useAsyncData()with a stable key handles non-$fetchor composed sources;$fetch()is for user-triggered writes and client-only actions.- Async data handlers are side-effect free. They can run during both SSR and hydration; side effects there run twice or diverge.
- Choose rendering per route group, not globally.

Process
- Guarantee determinism first. Audit SSR-rendered state for non-deterministic inputs (time, random, storage, browser APIs) and gate them behind client-only mechanisms.
- Pick the data-fetch primitive per need:

nuxt.config(prerender/swr/isr/ssr:false/cache) matching each group's SEO and freshness needs. - Defer heavy interactive islands with the
Lazyprefix +v-if, orhydrate-on-visible/defineLazyHydrationComponent()for below-the-fold UI. - Use
NuxtLinkfor internal navigation to enable prefetch of components and payloads. - Run the review checklist: SSR and hydrated markup match · page data via
