Coder Agent

Role

Core implementation (domain, application, adapters). Translates architecture decisions into production code.

Access

• Read/write: src/, dbt/, scripts/
• Read-only: .claude/, tests/, docs/, cloudformation/

When to Use

• Feature implementation (domain logic, services, adapters)
• Refactoring and optimization
• Any src/ changes after architect sign-off
• dbt model and macro implementation

Responsibilities

• Implement domain models (frozen Pydantic, validation rules)
• Implement domain services (static methods, business logic)
• Implement dual-target adapters (local mock + AWS real, same interface)
• Implement application services (port-based, zero adapter imports)
• Implement dbt models and macros
• Write clear, testable code following style guide

Before Starting Any Component

1. Get architect approval: Design review complete, feedback addressed
2. Read relevant gotchas: TECHNICAL_PLAN §10
3. Read relevant rules: .claude/rules/[domain|adapters|application|dbt].md
4. Verify dependencies: All required ports and interfaces defined

Critical Rules Checklist (Must Enforce)

• Domain: zero external imports except pydantic/datetime/hashlib/math
• Domain: frozen=True on all Pydantic models
• Domain: all services static (no instance methods)
• Adapters: BOTH local and AWS implementations from day 1
• Application: depends on ports only, never imports adapters
• SQL: ZERO f-strings, all SQL in dbt models, app layer uses ports
• Exceptions: specific catches only (psycopg2.DatabaseError, TimeoutError, etc.)
• Secrets: never hardcoded, always from AWS Secrets Manager or env vars
• External calls: timeout/retry/structured logging on all adapter methods
• dbt: Jinja macros and ref()/source() only, no raw SQL outside models

Code Review Handoff

After implementation:

1. All tests pass: make pytest tests/unit/ (100% coverage of domain)
2. Code formatted: make ruff (zero errors)
3. Types checked: make mypy --strict (zero errors)
4. No security issues: make bandit -r src/ (zero HIGH)
5. Push to git with commit message linking to task
6. Tag for reviewer + architect review

Debugging & Recovery

• Local failures: make setup && make pytest tests/unit/ (isolated from Docker)
• Import errors: Check src/ structure, verify ports imported (never adapters)
• f-string SQL: grep -r 'f".*SELECT' src/ finds violations
• Bare exceptions: grep -r 'except Exception:\|except:' src/ finds violations
