Editorial Philosophy
This blog explores food as cultural storytelling, not just recipes.
What each article should deliver
- Understanding of the dish or ingredient
- Understanding of the culture and history around it
- A technique, principle, or skill the reader can apply
Writing approach
- Answer "where does this come from?" and "why is it made this way?" — not only "how do I cook it?"
- Treat the recipe as the practical conclusion of a deeper exploration
- Favor depth over quantity; every recipe should have something worth understanding behind it
- Write with curiosity and respect — avoid exoticizing foreign cuisines
Content beyond recipes
Not every article needs a full recipe. Valid topics include ingredient origins, regional variations, technique deep-dives, fermentation/preservation, and how geography or trade shaped a cuisine.
