Dataset guidance
Project docs and decisions live in Backlog.md under
backlog/. Start with the project overview. data/
and src/lib follow the v8 model in the
v8 architecture:
- Records in
data/are game-independent base data and hold no text. Names, descriptions and method notes go indata/i18n/<locale>/<kind>.json(locale codes such aseng,jpn,es-es); never fill a missing translation from another language. data/mods/<set>/holds what a game set changes.mods/champions/is generated bypnpm champions:update(not bypnpm build); do not edit it by hand.- Consumers upgrading from v7 follow docs/migrating-to-v8.md; keep it in
sync when the public layout or
lib/*exports change.
Create and update Backlog records with the backlog CLI rather than editing their files.
Before editing Pokémon availability data, schemas, parsers, or editor behavior, read the canonical availability field definitions. This reference defines acquisition, storage, shiny fields, form exceptions, and the current Champions export restriction. Use it instead of terminology in older audits or remembered rules.
The availability CLI guide documents source mappings, curated rules, unresolved coverage, and offline validation.
Adding, renaming or removing a Pokémon, ribbon, mark or move changes the append-only code maps in
data/codes/. Read the code map rules, run
pnpm codes:sync and never edit or reorder an existing code.
